3M's 3551B utilizes the scientific principle of diffusion which involves gradual molecule mixing of 2 or more substances. Analysis procedure available on request. The monitor uses brominated carbon for collection and conversion of the reactive (EtO) ethylene oxide into a more highly stable
2-bromoethanol
chemical derivative. The compound is desorbed using methylene chloride in methanol.
